There's nothing comparable to casual photos of Bettie Page and this is
one of the most fantastic collections to have surfaced in recent years.
On Sept. 09 1956 (dated by an
Arnold Kovacs
negative sleeve). Don Baida was lucky enough to be in the backseat of
the same car Bettie Page was riding in for the famous Headley Farm camera
club outing which was also attended by Arnold Kovacs, Art Amsie and
Weegee. It was about one year before Bettie Page quit and she looks
happy, full of confidence and very lively in these photos.
I spoke with Don Baida in May 2008 and he told me that he only
photographed Bettie Page once which is significant. It means that all of
these separate scenes can be placed at the same location on the same
day. Photographs from other people surface from this great camera club
outing and can now be traced to a specific time and place.
