The Bettie Page photos on this page (at least the first 39) were taken on
Jan. 01 1954 by Robert Stanton (Apr. 07 1924 - Dec. 23 2001) who led a
very colorful life. In his youth he traveled quite extensively as a Merchant
Marine. He settled in New York City and became a disk Jockey for WINR a CBS
affiliate. He was a freelance photographer and once traveled with identical
twins Tani and Dran Seitz ("The Broadway Twins") who were featured on the
Nov. 29 1954 cover of "Life" magazine. He produced zed cards (comp cards)
for aspiring models and actresses. The studio where Robert Stanton
photographed Bettie Page appeared to be very clean which was unusual for the
time. If you look at the backgrounds where many of the models from the 1950s
were photographed, you'll notice torn up nasty looking furniture, dirty
walls and even dirtier carpeting. Sometimes after working in Photoshop on a
specific studio or apartment set where Bettie Page modeled, I literally
wanted to take a shower!
June King, Alice Denham, Shelley Leigh and Lois Austin were all photographed in the same studio by Robert Stanton which you can find at papericons.com.
Robert Stanton worked as a nurse In his later years and retired in Florida.
There were two Bettie Page
Jill
8x10" photos in Robert Stanton's archive. Did he photograph the session?
