John Everard was a British photographer active from the late 1920s through
the mid 1960s. He published many books on photography. His style was
heavily influenced by art deco. For the most part, his figures were
stiff and lacked fluidity. This statement is not meant to be negative. On
the contrary, his figures resonate with power and were posed somewhat
like ancient Greek statues. Compare his work to Ruth Bernard's who used the
s-curve extensively. Her figures are fluid and full of motion. Look at
the last image which is an art deco hood ornament and you can see the
similarity to John Everard's style.
John produced many photographs during his day mainly during the 1940s and
you can occasionally find vintage gelatin silver prints and
photogravures
on eBay and galleries on the internet.
